We started our ministry in June of 2012 in Texcoco, Mexico which is a city of about 200,000 people located just outside of Mexico City. Mexico City is the largest city in the Western Hemisphere with about 20.1 million residents. We are working with a church planted in 2002 by Adrian and Lula Sanchez of Southern Mexico Missions which has about 50 members. We are currently the only church in Texcoco that preaches Jesus Christ as our Savior who forgives us of our sins, that when we confess that we believe in him we experience the freedom of a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, and that teaches the importance of being, and how to be, a disciple of Jesus Christ. There is a huge need in the area, and in Mexico in general, for the gospel.
We currently serve through the church by helping to lead services and plan events. We also teach English to help give people more opportunities to better their lives. We currently lead three different English classes in our home for children, young adults, and adults, and we also lead two different discussion clubs at an English school in town. Through these classes and clubs we have the opportunity not only to share our knowledge of the English language, but also our knowledge of Jesus Christ our savior.
Special Project: Texcoco Christian Academy
The Mexico education system ranks as one of the lowest of developing countries worldwide. With a heavy focus on seat based learning and completion of task as opposed to making sure students truly master new concepts, students who have a more difficult time learning or who need movement in their day tend to get further and further behind. Mexico has opened itself to the private education sector to help bring positive change to education. Unfortunately, most private schools are run as businesses which means high quality education comes at high prices for families. We are in the process of starting Texcoco Christian Academy to help families come to know Christ in Texcoco. By running our school as a not-for-profit, we can provide high quality Christian education to those who usually would not be able to afford it, and to kids who are not thriving in traditional Mexican schools. With activity based learning and by helping students master new concepts we can bring positive change to families. With the teaching of Christian values and character traits we can transform families with the saving message of Jesus Christ. Our school facilities can also serve as an expanded church location or an additional church plant in Texcoco.
How you can help: Due to the current limitations of our church facilities and lack of space, land must be purchased to meet the government requirements for a school. We also must construct classrooms, purchase the needed supplies such as tables, chairs, and marker boards, as well as pay fees during our certification process. This comes as an upfront expense of about $150,000. YOUR partnership can make all the difference. We cannot do this without your faithful support. Will you help be the difference? Will you help transform lives?
Needs: We are always in need of your prayers for the hearts and lives of the people that we serve here in Mexico, and for us as we strive to be a light for Christ to those around us. We are also in need of monthy financial partners to help us cover the financial requirements of service here in Mexico.
Opportunities: We also host short term missions trips. If you or your church is interested in missions and would like to experience the work being done here in Mexico we would love to have you!
