Josh & Susan Sanchez Family – Manzanillo, Mexico
“As for ME & MY HOUSE, we will serve the Lord”. Joshua 24:15
We came to Manzanillo, Mexico, a city of 125,000 with no previous Independent Christian Church or Church of Christ, in January of 2006 to begin a church with a small group of 10 believers that were living here. The closest CC congregations are a 3 hour drive.
We are located on the western coast of Mexico, in the largest sea port. 1 in 5 work for the port, so our city’s main source of income is trade, not tourism. The main religion is cultural Catholicism, with Jehovah’s Witnesses running a close second. JW’s, alone, have over 30 different congregations spread throughout the city.
Missionaries involved: Josh & Susan Sanchez with teammates Ben and Melissa Johnson (joined 2008) along with Dane and Ashley Denker (joined in 2011).

Needs: We are currently in the process of raising funds to buy land and build a church building here in Manzanillo. The land has been purchased, and we are collecting material estimates, and scheduling groups to arrive and build. We need toiletry items, travel size, for a nearby village we evangelize and give supplies to. We also collect school supplies year round for the children in the village and here in Manzanillo, as simple things like back packs, colored pencils, glue sticks, kids scissors, 24 pack crayons are all more than double the price you would pay in the U.S. Let us know of any items you would like to collect, and we can have them sent down with one of the teams that we receive every few months. If shipped they may not arrive, or we will have to pay huge taxes to get them out of the post office. So, PLEASE DO NOT MAIL PACKAGES.
Opportunities: We host interns every summer, if anyone is interested in working with church planting, children’s ministry, missions, etc. We welcome anyone interested in teaching seminars, we also have a women’s ministry that welcomes women teachers and trainers. We have a huge need for music ministry.
